About Us
The Association for Coaching (AC) was established in 2002 and is a leading independent and not-for- profit professional body dedicated to promoting best practice and raising awareness and standards of coaching worldwide.
As an inclusive body, with members in over 80 countries, it is made up of professional coaches, academic institutions, trainers and providers of coaching, as well as sponsors of coaching from the third sector through to large corporates, building coaching cultures.
Purpose
Our purpose is to inspire and champion coaching excellence, to advance the coaching profession and make a sustainable difference to individuals, organizations and society.
Vision & Objectives
Our Vision is to professionalize and advance coaching, promoting a coach approach to leadership, so that coaching ‘ripples’ as a key enabler for performance, responsibility and fulfillment. We will achieve that growing and inspiring our international community, made up of professional internal and external coaches, leader coach mentors, coach training/service providers, educators, coach supervisors and organizations building coaching cultures. Our stretch goal is to reach 100,000 members in 80+ countries by 2030.

- To develop and implement targeted marketing initiatives to encourage growth to the profession.
- To demonstrate accountability and credibility through role modelling a coach approach.
- To encourage and provide opportunities for an open exchange of views and experiences.

Our Global Code of Ethics for Coaches, Mentors and Supervisors:
As membership bodies, we are committed to maintaining and promoting excellent practice in coaching and mentoring and have therefore created The Global Code of Ethics for Coaches, Mentors and Supervisors. This code of ethics sets the expectation of best practice in coaching and mentoring and promotes the development of coaching and mentoring excellence.
Whether you are an existing coach, an organization providing coaching training or someone who is looking to engage in a Coaching culture for their organization, the Association for Coaching has a membership level for you.
Recognition of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Hours
The AC has launched a new Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Hours Scheme which offers organizations and their participants evidence of ongoing professional development by having validated AC CPD hours.
AC Learned Society
The AC has been classified as a learned society (HMRC reference: Coaching International Ltd Association) and as such, membership subscriptions are exempt from UK VAT. Members may be able to reclaim tax they pay on their AC membership subscriptions.
